With C 1879, Gebrüder Thonet Vienna continues the Continuum journey by reinterpreting a historic Kaminsessel as a folding chaise longue for covered outdoor spaces. A project that preserves the formal identity of the original while expanding its function and context of use.The structure in black painted stainless steel and solid iroko combines strength with material warmth, while the folding mechanism introduces a contemporary and flexible dimension.For the first time, the traditional Wiener Geflecht is joined by a hand-woven waxed cotton weave, used for the seat and backrest. A craft that renews a historic artisanal tradition, while offering durability and a new tactile quality.Designed for terraces, verandas and covered outdoor spaces, C 1879 extends the concept of comfort beyond the domestic environment, in a continuous dialogue between memory and contemporaneity.
